Two workers were injured when a lift shaft platform fell at a construction site in Central on Monday.

Police said they'd received a report that the platform fell at the site for the office block The Henderson, which is formerly a multi-storey car park on Murray Road.

Officers said two workers, both 48, were on the platform when the incident occurred.

One of them was said to be in serious condition in hospital with hip and arm injuries.

The other had scratches to his arms and legs and was in stable condition.
