Hong Kong claimed three more bronze medals on Day 9 of the Asian Games, in long jump, the triathlon and table tennis.

Tiffany Yue broke the Hong Kong record in the women’s long jump event, and won a bronze medal.

She made 6.21 metres in her opening jump, and produced her best leap of 6.50 metres at her second attempt.

She finished behind China’s Xiong Shiqi and India’s Ancy Sojan Edappilly, who had jumps of 6.73 and 6.63 metres respectively.

Another bronze was won in the mixed triathlon relay event, with the team of Wong Tsz-to, Bailee Brown, Jason Ng and Charlotte Hall finishing in 1 hour 28.22 minutes.

Bailee Brown, the second racer, who helped Hong Kong team stage a comeback, said the team all pulled together, but she said they had faced numerous challenges, including the absence of Olympian Oscar Coggins.

"Our team have been through a lot of adversities, but we are so close and I could not have asked better people to do this with," Brown told HOY TV after the race.

"We had a few switches to our relay team but, you know, we were ready no matter what. We all have done the work and so I think we came here, and we all believe in each other and trusted we could get it done."

In table tennis, Wong Chun-ting won bronze in the men's singles event, after being defeated 4-2 by Wang Chuqin of China in the semi-finals.

Wong lost the first two games 5-11 to his opponent, but came back to win game three with a score of 15-13.

Wang then won the fourth game 11-5 to take a commanding 3-1 lead.

But the Hong Kong player did not go down without a fight, taking the fifth game 11-5 to narrow the deficit.

It was a see-saw battle in the sixth game, with Wang prevailing 11-9 for a berth in the final.

Wong told HOY TV that there is still room for him to improve.

"I am very happy but I think my performance could have been better especially in the beginning. I am more satisfied with my playing in the middle to end. I don't think I handled crucial plays too well. I wasn't steady enough," he said.

This is Hong Kong's only table tennis medal at this year's Asian Games.

Elsewhere, the eventing equestrian team finished fourth, with China taking home the gold, followed by Japan with the silver, and Thailand completing the podium.

On the courts, Angus Ng lost in the men's singles badminton event to Lee Zii-jia of Malaysia in the round of 64.

Ng won the first game 21-15, but Lee went on to win the next two, 21-15 and 21-16, to clinch victory.

And in mind sports, the Hong Kong women's team was able to fight their way into the top four of the abstract strategy board game, Go.

They lost to Japan two-zero, missing out on a medal.

China currently top the medals table, followed by Japan and South Korea.

Hong Kong are in ninth place, with six gold, 15 silver, and 23 bronze medals.
