Hong Kong stocks closed with gains on Friday, shaking off Wall Street losses ahead of key US jobs data.

The Hang Seng Index was up 1.58 percent, or 272.11 points, to 17,485.98.

Mainland Chinese markets were closed for a holiday. (AFP)
