Hong Kong's Immigration Department confirmed late on Saturday that it had been contacted by four SAR residents caught in the conflict between Israel and Palestinian Hamas militants.
Officials said they had provided relevant information for the four and were prepared to offer assistance according to their wishes.
The department said it remained in close contact with the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong and the Chinese Embassy in Israel, as well as the nation's office in Palestine.
The Security Bureau provided details of Saturday's intense clashes in an update to the outbound travel alert for Israel, which remains at amber level, indicating that residents should be vigilant and pay attention to their safety while in the country.
Specifically, the alert says Hong Kong people should avoid travelling to Gaza and surrounding areas, as well as areas adjacent to the Syrian and Lebanese borders. Citizens should also avoid traveling to the West Bank, including Jerusalem, unless necessary.
