Police on Friday said a suspected burglar plunged to his death while attempting to clamber up the outside of a building in Sheung Shui following a break-in at a flat.

Officers were first alerted to a burglary at Tin Hee House of Tin Ping Estate on Thursday evening, before receiving a report that a man had been spotted unconscious on a platform at the building.

Police believed the man slipped and fell while escaping the flat.

A ring worth about HK$2,000 that had been reported stolen was found with the body.
