The head of a Temple Street market operators' group said on Monday that he hopes the area can be turned into a must-see attraction in Hong Kong.
The government said it'll kick start a promotional campaign for the bazaar next month and bring in local delicacies and performances.
Raymond Chan of the Yaumatei Temple Street Association of Hawkers and Shop Operators said around 30 food and snacks stalls will be added to the area, with some operators coming from nearby well-known eateries.
Chan said he hopes the market – already one of the most popular places for fortune telling service in Hong Kong – will become a big draw.
"I hope the Temple Street night market could be developed into something like the Shilin night market in Taipei, where you must go visit," Chan told an RTHK programme.
"When you come to Hong Kong, you must go to Temple Street for a walk, spend a night there. That's the most ideal scenario."
