A 22-year-old man involved in the 2019 social unrest was jailed for 47 months on Wednesday for rioting, assaulting police and perverting the course of justice.
Tsang Chi-kin was shot when he attacked a policeman with a rod in Tsuen Wan during a National Day protest in 2019.
He jumped bail in 2020 and later went into hiding, before being rearrested last year and pleading guilty to all charges.
In handing down sentence, deputy district judge Ada Yim said the case was serious because the riot was planned, and Tsang was carrying a makeshift shield as well as a metal rod while protesting with a crowd.
She added that Tsang had continued to attack a police officer despite repeated warnings.
Yim said she had taken into account the fact that Tsang was only 18 years old when he committed the offence.
She added that he had expressed remorse and had cooperated with the police after he was rearrested.
