Chief Executive John Lee on Thursday said he will add more overseas trips to his calendar to create more business opportunities for Hong Kong.

Lee led a 70-strong delegation to attend the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, which he said yielded fruitful exchanges with foreign business leaders.

Wrapping up his visit, the CE also told reporters he's expecting to embark on a trip to Europe – an important trade partner and market for the SAR.

"Visiting other countries or regions will create more business opportunities for Hong Kong and help showcase its advantages to other places.

It is very important to achieve mutual benefits, so I will continue my visits. Asean countries are my priority, but I also have plans to visit Middle East countries or European countries," he said.

Lee also said the signing of three contracts during the forum were just examples of the many opportunities brought by the initiative, adding that Hong Kong has a lot to bring to the table.

"Hong Kong is very strong on professional services. We have lawyers, architects, accountants who are [of] international standard. And they are very experienced in providing expert services to support matters such as financing, construction, green economic development. So the opportunities are multi-faceted."

Three contracts worth more than US$450 million on medical, investment and technical cooperation involving Hong Kong enterprises were signed during the two-day forum.
