Ng Cheuk-yan snatched bronze in the women's 100 metre backstroke S-6 at the Hangzhou Asian Para Games on Monday, marking the first medal for the SAR squad.
The 13-year-old Ng finished third in a time of one minute 33.37 seconds, behind the Chinese pair, Jiang Yuyan and Zhu Ji, who took home gold and silver respectively.
After the race, Ng said she was honoured to win the first medal for the Hong Kong team - and hoped to do even better in future competitions.

"I would like to thank my coach and my family for their support and encouragement, which motivated me to achieve better results."
Sports minister Kevin Yeung said Ng's success would encourage other Hong Kong athletes for more success in the coming events.
"Ng gave it her all in the competition and won the first medal for the Hong Kong, China Delegation. It encourages many other Hong Kong athletes. I'm looking forward to seeing more breakthroughs made by Hong Kong athletes and success in more events," Yeung said in a statement.
China’s Xie Maosan won the first gold of the day in the women's canoe KL1 event. As of 5pm on Monday, China led the medal table with 45 medals, followed by India with 14 and Iran with 9.
