An American politician appeared before Sha Tin Court on Monday to face a charge of carrying a firearm without a licence.

Jeff Wilson, a member of the Washington State Senate representing the 19th District, was arrested on Saturday at the Hong Kong International Airport. It's alleged that Customs officers found a revolver in his luggage.

The 63-year-old was granted bail and ordered to return to the court on October 30.

Wilson, a member of the Republican Party, has served in the state senate since 2021 and is also a Port of Longview commissioner.
