A worker has died on Friday after being apparently hit by a three-metre-long iron bar in a Hospital Authority construction site in Tung Chung.
Police said the worker, 58, was found lying on the ground with injuries to his head, shoulders and legs at around 1pm.
He was rushed unconscious to North Lantau Hospital, where he later died.
The Labour Department said it’s investigating the incident.
The Architectural Services Department, which manages the site, has expressed its condolences to the worker’s family, adding that work at the site has been suspended for the time being.
The Development Bureau, meanwhile, said the contractor responsible for the works has been barred from bidding for other government projects pending investigation findings.
