Sports minister Kevin Yeung said on Sunday that officials can do better, after the launch of its new sports venue booking system a few days ago was met with login and payment issues.
Users have complained they had issues accessing the SmartPLAY system or making payments, while some received error messages after they were able to log into the system.
Yeung said there were log-in problems on Thursday morning because there was an enormous amount of online traffic, and on Friday there was a payment issue probably because newly-added payment platforms meant too many transactions had to be handled at the same time.
The minister said the government will make adjustments as officials learn from the experience.
"As everyone can see, there were problems in the morning rush hours for those two days. Then, for the most part, the operation was alright. But of course we want to do even better," Yeung told reporters after attending an event.
He pointed out the system had been tested before it went online.
