President Xi Jinping will visit Vietnam on December 12-13, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry.
Xi was invited by Vietnam's top leaders, Communist Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong and President Vo Van Thuong.
"During Xi's visit, the two sides will discuss how to upgrade the new positioning of China-Vietnam relations, focus on political security, and pragmatic cooperation," Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a regular press briefing on Thursday.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Vietnam earlier this month and met with the country's top leaders. He said Beijing and Hanoi share the same aspiration and destiny.
The Vietnamese president was in Beijing in October attending the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. (Agencies)
