The Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Erick Tsang on Sunday cast his vote at the District Council elections, and said officials will continue to encourage people to vote.
Tsang cast his ballot at the Eastern District Junior Police Call Club House.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, he noted that the voting day atmosphere was good.
"We saw an an enthusiastic voting situation in the morning. Of course, we hope that people will continue to vote enthusiastically."
When asked about voter turnout, he said the government has no forecast at the moment.
"Officials will continue to encourage residents to vote."
The voter turnout rate for geographical constituencies at 9.30am was 3.12 percent, with 135,255 people having cast a ballot.
