Secretary for Security Chris Tang on Sunday said the disciplined forces have deployed many officers to ensure that the voting process for the District Council Elections is conducted in a safe, orderly, and peaceful manner.
“That includes more than 10,000 police officers, as well as hundreds of special constables from various disciplined forces, over a thousand auxiliary police officers, members of the Civil Aid Service and the Medical Auxiliary Service,” Tang told reporters after casting his vote in Ho Man Tin.
“The Security Bureau has also established a monitoring and support centre at government headquarters to coordinate with other government departments in case there's an emergency.”
He added that law enforcement agencies will take immediate action if anyone attempts to break the law, or do something that is harmful or obstructs balloting.
