Financial Secretary Paul Chan on Sunday called on people to cast their ballots in the district council polls to help build a better community.

Speaking to reporters after voting in Southern District, Chan said he believes everyone wants to express their views on policies that affect them.

"I believe that everyone is very concerned about their own communities, such as the design of some intersections, whether community facilities are adequate, and the greening of parks," he said.

The finance minister added that the revamped councils will "return to their essence", focusing on district affairs and reflecting people's opinions to the government.
