Voters in Eastern and Central districts have described the voting process for the District Council elections as smooth and clear.

An Eastern district voter, Joanne Choi, said she was happy with the voting process.

“It was smooth and quick. Along the way, there were [staff who were helpful],” she said.

Another voter in the district, Kwok said: “I hope the elected person will seize the opportunity to do as much as possible.”

“The district has been doing well, but of course I hope for even better and faster progress” she added.

At a polling station in Central district, a woman, surnamed Tam, voted with her husband and mother-in-law.

She said besides looking at the candidates' manifestos and backgrounds, their age is also an important point of consideration.

“I believe that young people may have better physical endurance to handle more demanding work, and their thoughts may be more vibrant and capable of energising the entire community,” she said.

There were also several first-time voters. A man surnamed Kwok said he accidentally went to the wrong polling station.

But the 29-year-old said he thought the government's promotion was quite good.

“There are adverts everywhere on the streets and on television.”

Thank you cards were also handed out to those who voted, and many voters took photos with the cards outside polling stations.

A woman surnamed Cheung, said she will show the photos to her two 10-year-old children.

“I want to show my children too. I want them to know, as a citizen, you perform your civic duty by voting,” she said.
