The DAB has emerged as the biggest winner in Sunday's district council polls, securing more than 40 percent of the 264 seats up for grabs.

Fielding 121 candidates, the party won 109 seats, for an overall success rate of 90 percent.

The DAB had a candidate in each of the geographical constituencies, with all but three of their 44 contestants elected for a success rate of 93 percent.

The party also won 68 seats in the District Committees constituencies.

The Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) secured the second-highest number of seats in Sunday's elections, with 27 of 46 candidates winning through.

In the geographical constituencies, the FTU had a success rate of 72 percent, with 18 of their 25 candidates elected.

The New People's Party (NPP) and the Business and Professionals Alliance (BPA) took 15 and 12 seats, respectively. Each had a success rate of less than 50 percent in the directly elected polls.

The Liberal Party ran seven candidates and five of them prevailed, including three in the geographical constituencies. The only candidate who didn't win a directly elected seat was actress Adrianna Sung in Wan Chai.

A new group, the New Prospect for Hong Kong, fielded five candidates, and only Yankie Chan in Yuen Long was triumphant.

Veteran councillor Christine Fong was the only one of three Professional Power candidates to secure a spot.

The sole candidates of Roundtable, Path of Democracy and the newly-formed Bauhinia Party all lost.

The government will later appoint 179 councillors, and along with 27 ex-officio members from rural committees will round up the councils' lineup of 470.
