The DAB said on Monday that it will work closely with other parties after winning around 40 percent of seats in the district council geographical constituency races.
Holden Chow, a vice chairman with the party, said while the results were in line with expectations, people should not regard the DAB as dominating the councils.
"We wouldn’t describe ourselves as a landslide victory. The reason being is we need to work closely with other parties going forward to deliver good governance in district affairs governance," he said.
Chow also said voter turnout is not the only indicator to measure the success of an election.
"Back in 2019, you have all those chaos and threats, and you have turnout rate exceeding 70 percent. But that sort of election wouldn't bring you any good governance at all," he said.
"Look at some western countries, they have high turnout rate, but their country, their nation is deeply divided, polarised. I think that is not the situation right now in Hong Kong."
