Chief Executive John Lee, along with other senior government officials as well as Legislative Council and judiciary representatives, on Wednesday paid tribute to the 300,000 people who died at the hands of Japanese soldiers in the Nanjing Massacre in 1937 and 1938.

The national anthem was played and two minutes of silence were observed during a ceremony at the Central Government Offices to mark the 10th Nanjing Massacre National Memorial Day, with Lee laying a wreath for the victims and leading participants in signing a book of remembrance.

Also attending the event were representatives of Central People’s Government organisations, members of the Executive Council, former members of the Hong Kong Independent Battalion of the Dongjiang Column, and students.
