Five former Polytechnic University students were jailed for up to 38 months each on Wednesday over a riot on campus in November 2019.
Lam Tsz-ching, Keung Cho-yuk, Keung Siu-hei, Chen Yun-yi and Chan Cheuk-chiu earlier pleaded guilty.
Security camera footage showed the defendants throwing hard objects at police officers, setting up barricades and spraying paint on surveillance cameras at the university between November 11 and November 14, 2019.
Deputy District Judge Colin Wong said the riot was planned and the defendants’ actions had contributed to an escalation of violence at the university later that month.
