The SAR government has hailed the visit of the home-grown C919 and ARJ21 aircraft as they wrapped up their landmark trip to Hong Kong.
In a statement released on Sunday, the SAR government said the visit of the two planes offered Hong Kong people a first-hand opportunity to witness the achievements of China's aviation manufacturing industry.
The authorities said the visit has fostered a sense of national identity among the youth and served as an inspiration for them to join the aviation industry.
The SAR government also said it will strengthen Hong Kong's position as an international aviation hub, along with actively collaborating with other airports in the Greater Bay Area.
The two aircraft arrived in Hong Kong on Tuesday and were showcased at the Hong Kong International Airport before returning to Shanghai.
During the past few days, more than 500 people were invited to tour the planes and more than 300 youngsters joined a sharing session with Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd (Comac) representatives on development of the two aircraft.
The C919 took to the skies on Saturday, flying at an altitude as low as 1,000 feet over Victoria Harbour.
The Transport and Logistics Bureau also expressed gratitude to the Civil Aviation Administration of China for their support in facilitating these activities.
