The Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station, one of Asia’s biggest railway stations, began operations on Tuesday.
The facility, originally named Tangxi Railway Station, was built in 1916. After years of upgrading, it came into service again, with the first train departing at 9.28am for Shantounan Station.
The Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station has seven floors, including three floors above ground and four floors below ground.
It boasts a total of 21 departure and arrival tracks, as well as 21 passenger service platforms. It is four times the size of the Guangzhounan Railway Station.
The station connects multiple major railway lines, and railway officials say its reopening marks a significant advancement in the country's transportation infrastructure by improve connectivity and convenience for residents and travelers.
