A worker was killed at Chek Lap Kok on Thursday after an elevated working platform collapsed on top of him.
The accident took place on Catering Road West at around 1pm. The platform involved was said to weigh around 10 tonnes.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Martin Lau from the Association for the Rights of Industrial Accident Victims said the accident was unacceptable, expressing sadness over the death.
Lau urged the authorities and the parties involved to focus more on ensuring safety at the industrial site.
"In the future, it is important for the Labour Department, companies, and front-line workers to have a better understanding of the risks associated with working in industrial sites. We are deeply saddened by this accident and hope that such tragic incidents won't happen again," he said.
The Labour Department (LD), for its part, said it is highly concerned about the incident.
"We commenced an immediate on-site investigation as soon as we were notified of the accident and will issue suspension notices to the proprietors concerned, suspending the dismantling work of cargo loaders at the repair workshop," a department spokesperson said.
"The proprietors cannot resume the work process until the LD is satisfied that measures to abate the relevant risks have been taken."
