Bob Tsang, a 20-year-old from Hong Kong who became the youngest climber from the city to conquer the highest mountain on each of the seven continents, told RTHK that he’s “overwhelmed” to have achieved the feat.
“I am just overwhelmed because this officially marks the end of my seven-year-long summits project,” he said.
He said his ascension of Vinson Massif in Antarctica on Saturday, though not the most challenging of the Seven Summits, presented its own set of physical demands with the extreme weather conditions.
“I'm just really thankful to the mountain for giving us the opportunity to summit on such a nice day.”
Tsang said while his current focus is to complete his studies, mountaineering will continue to play a big part in his life.
“I do want to return to Nepal. There are quite a few 8,000-metre peaks that I want to try to climb. They are quite dangerous of course and they do take lots of time and money and resources to do it,” he added.
Earlier, Tsang conquered Mount Everest in Asia, Mount Aconcagua in South America, Mount Denali in North America, Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mount Elbrus in Europe and Puncak Jaya in Oceania.
