A man was jailed for three months on Wednesday for wearing a T-shirt featuring slogans deemed seditious.
Chu Kai-pong, 26, earlier pleaded guilty to acting with seditious intention and possessing seditious publications.
He was caught at the airport in November wearing a T-shirt with "Free Hong Kong" and "Liberate Hong Kong" printed on it.
Another T-shirt and some flags found among his belongings were also deemed to be seditious.
In sentencing, West Kowloon chief magistrate Victor So said the defendant had bought the items from Taiwan, which shows that he knowingly broke the law.
But So agreed with the defence lawyer that wearing the T-shirt in public was "less penetrative" than spreading such messages online, and that Chu had only displayed the seditious words for a relatively short period of time.
