The organiser of the annual Lunar New Year night parade said on Thursday it expected 150,000 spectators to attend the event.

The Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade will return on February 10, the first day of the year of the dragon, after a five-year hiatus.

The parade will start at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui and proceed along Canton Road, Haiphong Road and Nathan Road before finishing at the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel.

Hong Kong Tourism Board, which is organising the event, said the parade would feature nine floats and 29 performing groups.

Tickets for the parade will go on sale on the board's visitor centre in Tsim Sha Tsui from January 27.
