The Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) on Wednesday said it has launched an investigation into a primary-school level football match, saying they suspect someone may have affected the integrity of the game.
In response to an RTHK inquiry about allegations that one of the teams had deliberately lost the match, the HKFA said someone may have influenced the students into playing dishonestly.
The competition took place at Tsuen Wan Sha Tsui Road Playground Football Courts, where the Kwai Chung District team was defeated by the Tuen Mun District team 3-5.
The HKFA added it has spoken with the coaches involved.
Meanwhile, the Schools Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China, said it is seeking a comprehensive understanding of the situation.
It is understood that the federation has requested referees and coaches to provide reports related to the match.
