Kwai Chung Hospital on Wednesday said they have suspended a staff member who allegedly assaulted a patient.

In a statement, the hospital said the patient was immediately transferred to the accident and emergency department at Princess Margaret Hospital for examination, adding that he is in a stable condition.

The hospital has reported the incident to the Hospital Authority Head Office and police.

It added that it has also reached out to the patient's family to explain the incident and offer necessary support to them.

Meanwhile, the Hospital Authority said it has highlighted to its staff the importance of patient safety and maintaining professional conduct among its staff.
