Police said on Friday that they've arrested a man on suspicion of scamming people out of some HK$6 million for concert tickets they never received.

Officers said the suspect was a development director at a local women's football club until he resigned in the middle of this month, adding that he’s been detained for obtaining property by deception.

The force alleged that the 36-year-old had claimed on his social media account that he had tickets for shows by groups such as boy-band MIRROR, Cantopop duo Twins, and South Korean group Blackpink.

At least 100 victims reported losing contact with the suspect after transferring money to him, with one victim saying HK$500,000 was lost.
