Police are investigating a case of attempted murder and suicide at Shek Mun MTR station, in which an 80-year-old man died.

Officers received a report at about 4.30pm on Tuesday that a man and a woman had been found collapsed with plastic bags around their heads in a washroom at the MTR station.

The two were rushed to the Prince of Wales Hospital in an unconscious state.

The man died shortly after 5pm, while the woman, who is 71, regained consciousness.

Initial investigations revealed that they were a couple - and that the man had allegedly tried to kill his wife by wrapping the plastic bag around her head before committing suicide.
