Operation Santa Claus, a fundraiser jointly organised by RTHK and the South China Morning Post, raised HK$14.9 million in its 2023 campaign.
More than 11,000 people will benefit as the funds raised go to 16 charities and good causes.
The beneficiaries run a wide range of projects, providing mental health support for the youth, lifelong care for people with disabilities, food assistance to the underprivileged and many more services.
“We are grateful that [Operation Santa Claus] made a strong comeback in 2023 post-Covid. All fundraising activities received generous support and great turnout from the community," Acting Deputy Director of Broadcasting Vincent Lee said at the campaign's closing ceremony on Wednesday.
"In line with this year's theme of 'Magic Moments', we brought joy and warmth to those in need in Hong Kong and made an impact on their lives.”
The annual fundraiser, which has been a fixture in the festive calendar since 1988, has raised more than HK$383 million for 353 charitable projects in Hong Kong.
