A Politburo meeting chaired by President Xi Jinping on Wednesday called for continuous efforts to ensure the implementation of the strategic decisions made at the 20th Communist Party Congress, while centring on advancing Chinese modernisation.

The meeting highlighted high-quality development as a primary task in 2024, and called for efforts to further boost economic development.

According to Xinhua News Agency, the meeting underscored improving the lives of the people and safeguarding social fairness and justice.

It also heard that effective efforts need to be made to strengthen the party's inspection action and the rectification of its problems. (Reporting by Xinhua)
