Hong Kong’s star fencer Vivian Kong beat Italy’s Giulia Rizzi to claim the women’s individual title at the International Fencing Federation (FIE) Doha Épée Grand Prix in Qatar on Thursday.

The medal is Kong’s first gold of the season, and her second in the Grand Prix series since winning the event in Colombia last May.

In a statement, the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau congratulation Kong for the win, saying she’s made history.

It said it hopes she can continue to achieve excellent results going forward.
