The MTR Corporation said it’s adding extra cross-border high-speed rail train trips while boosting local train frequencies, as it gears up for the Lunar New Year travel rush.
According to a statement by the SAR's transit operator, an additional 22 train trips will be provided each day for trips between the West Kowloon station and Shenzhen’s Futian station from February 11th to 13th.
Meanwhile, it’s also running an extra 1,850 subway train trips on weekends and public holidays from today until February 18th, covering most heavy rail lines but excluding the Airport Express.
Overnight services will be provided on Friday for Lunar New Year’s Eve, covering most local railway lines and seven light rail routes, but excludes the Airport Express and Disneyland Resort Line.
There are also extended services to the border crossing at Lo Wu station on Lunar New Year’s Eve and the second day of the Lunar New Year. The government is extending the operating hours of the crossing point until 2am for those nights.
The last train from Admiralty to Lo Wu will depart at 56 minutes past midnight, while the last train from Lo Wu to Admiralty will depart at 02.30am on those two days.
The MTR reminded passengers to again check the schedules via online apps prior to their travels to ensure a smooth journey.
