A worker died on Tuesday after apparently being run over by a plane at the airport.

It's thought the 34-year-old had been a passenger in a tow truck before he fell out of the vehicle on the apron and was subsequently hit by the plane being pulled behind it.

The truck driver, a 60-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death.

In a statement, police said they received a report at around 3am about a man lying on the taxiway.

The China Aircraft Services worker had suffered multiple injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The Airport Authority expressed its condolences to the dead man's family and said it would provide them with assistance.
