Chinese officials have expressed concerns to visiting US Treasury officials about tariffs, investment restrictions and sanctions, Beijing said.

According to the Finance Ministry, the two sides had "in-depth, frank, pragmatic and constructive" exchanges on their macroeconomic situation and policy, and developing countries' debt, among other issues in their meetings this week in Beijing.

They agreed to continue to maintain communications, the ministry added.

In a separate meeting, Vice Premier He Lifeng, China's point man on bilateral economic and trade affairs, met with a delegation led by US Treasury Undersecretary for International Affairs Jay Shambaugh on Tuesday.

The vice premier noted that Beijing and Washington should work together to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state at their San Francisco meeting last year and deepen exchanges and cooperation.

Shambaugh was in China to attend the third meeting of the China-US economic working group.

Meanwhile, Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen expressed concerns about the restrictions on semiconductors and cloud services in China, fair treatment of Chinese companies in the US, and photovoltaic restrictions, according to a statement from the Commerce Ministry.

"Sino-US economic and trade cooperation is a stabilising force in the relations between the two countries," Wang said in a separate video call with US Deputy Secretary of Commerce Marisa Lago, adding that Beijing is ready to work with Washington on expanding cooperation and managing differences.
