The State Council on Wednesday appointed Wu Qing as chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), replacing Yi Huiman.

Wu also replaced Yi as the Communist Party chief at the securities regulator.

Wu, 59, was deputy party chief of Shanghai prior to his appointment. He headed the Shanghai Stock Exchange between 2016 and 2017.

Yi was appointed CSRC chairman in 2019. (Agencies)
