A fire truck ladder came crashing down onto a Kowloon Bay road on Friday afternoon.

The ladder had been towering above multiple lanes on both sides of Kai Cheung Road, before it buckled towards the middle and collapsed.

There were no reports of any injuries, and it was not known whether the ladder struck any vehicles or if any vehicles hit the ladder following the collapse.

Following the incident, the Fire Services Department said it will immediately stop using turntable ladders of the same model, and will conduct further safety checks.

The department said it has established a task force to look into the cause of the incident.

The fire truck involved was parked at the nearby Kowloon Bay Fire Station. The Transport Department said all lanes of Kai Cheung Road between Wang Kwong Road and Kai Shing Street were closed following the incident at around 3pm.
