The police on Sunday said they'd seized cocaine worth HK$120 million from two men staying at a Yau Ma Tei guesthouse, as they warned that syndicates may be disguising their drug activities by operating in tourist hot spots.

Officers said they found part of the haul in a suitcase being carried by one man as they confronted him in the lobby on Friday.

They then raided the room where the pair were staying and found more drugs.

A total of 132 kilogrammes of cocaine was seized.

Superintendent Wilson Tam from the Narcotics Bureau said officers believe the suspects were posing as tourists.

"It has come to our attention that the drug syndicate recruited foreign travellers to manage where they stored drugs and sell them.

"And they chose to store the drugs in Yau Ma Tei, a crowded place with many foreign tourists, in a bid to cover for the use of suitcases to sell drugs in large quantities."

The two suspects, foreign nationals aged 44 and 47, will appear before Kowloon City Magistracy on Monday to face trafficking charges.
