Police have arrested a 67-year-old man for allegedly stealing coins from the Wishing Fountain at Wong Tai Sin Temple last Thursday.

Footage of the alleged theft had been widely circulated online.

Officers made the arrest in Sham Shui Po on Monday, after receiving a report from the temple and checking CCTV.

Police say the sum apparently stolen was not large, and amounted to tens of dollars.

The man, surnamed Yip, was arrested on suspicion of theft.
