Police arrested a woman on Tuesday after her young daughter had to be rescued from a canopy outside a flat in Sham Shui Po.

Online photos showed the girl, 3, stuck outside a window and between the bars of a drying rack.

Police said they received a report about the incident in Wong Chuk Street at around 8am.

The girl didn't have any visible injuries but was taken to hospital for a check-up.

Her mother, 44, was arrested on suspicion of ill-treating or neglecting the girl, police said.
