North Lantau Hospital said on Friday that it’s made a report to the police after a female patient alleged that a healthcare worker had conducted an inappropriate physical examination on her.
The hospital said in a statement that it's highly concerned about the incident, which took place on February 15.
"The staff member involved in the incident has been posted out from clinical duties involving direct patient care," the hospital said, adding that it will fully cooperate with police investigation.
It added that the incident has been reported to the head office of the Hospital Authority (HA).
The authority, for its part, said it attaches great importance to patient safety and always requires staff members to stringently uphold professional ethics.
“The HA will not tolerate any inappropriate behaviour to patients and will follow up stringently if any inappropriate conduct is found,” it said.
RTHK has reached out to the police for comment.
