The China Earthquake Networks Centre on Saturday said a 5.3 magnitude earthquake had hit Aheqi County in north-western Xinjiang region, near the border between China and Kyrgyzstan.
The centre said the quake struck just before 7 am.
The depth was monitored at 10 kilometres.
