China's top legislature opened a two-day meeting on Monday ahead of next week's annual "two sessions".
The National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee reviewed an amendment bill on guarding state secrets.
It also deliberated a work report of the top legislative body and the draft agenda of the NPC session that begins on March 5, among other documents.
Zhao Leji, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, presided over the plenary meeting.
Separately, senior Communist Party officials have recently submitted reports on their work to the party Central Committee and its general secretary, Xi Jinping, according to Xinhua News Agency.
Efforts should be made "to maintain and strengthen the rebounding economy and further improve people's well-being", Xi was quoted as saying. (Reporting by Xinhua)
