A fire broke out at Kai Tak Sports Park on Tuesday morning, but no one was hurt.

Police received a report at about 7:30 am that smoke was coming from the roof of the stadium.

The blaze was out before firefighters arrived.

Initial investigations suggested that the fire was caused by a short circuit in a charger.

Some construction material and equipment was destroyed.

The sports park is expected to commence operation in the first half of next year.
