Hong Kong shares ended down on Wednesday as the city's budget report failed to raise sentiment.
The Hang Seng Index dipped 1.5 percent, or 253 points, to close at 16,536.
The Shanghai Composite Index ended down 1.9 percent, or 57 points, to 2,957, and the Shenzhen Composite Index fell 3.8 percent, or 65 points, to 1,651. (AFP)
