Hong Kong’s sole delegate to the National People's Congress Standing Committee, Starry Lee, said she would continue to act as a bridge between Hongkongers and central authorities and make “constructive suggestions”.
On the sidelines of the two sessions in Beijing, Lee said she’s glad that Beijing listened to Hong Kong people’s views.
“It came across to us that we have proposed certain suggestions, and certain suggestions have been crystallised. Like, for example, the cancellation of the health declaration form. That is a consensus among the NPC members, and also there is a very strong consensus among Hong Kong society,” Lee said.
Asked whether there was a chance of expanding multiple-entry visas for mainland visitors and allowing individual travellers from more mainland cities to visit the SAR, Lee said there is room for discussion.
“I think the relaxation of the travel requirement will be the future trend, I believe. But when and how? I trust the central government and also the Hong Kong government will do the assessment together,” she said.
