Police on Thursday arrested two drivers in relation to the death of a motorcyclist in Cheung Sha Wan on Wednesday night.

The two – a 67-year-old man and a 65-year-old woman – were detained on suspicion of dangerous driving causing death and not pulling up after an accident.

The man ¬– a taxi driver – was also held on suspicion of failing to report an accident.

Officers said the deceased, 56, was riding his motorcycle along Lin Cheung Road towards Kwai Chung just after 10pm, when he was thrown off his bike following a collision with a taxi near Lai Po Road.

They said the motorcyclist was believed to have been subsequently rolled over by a private car, adding that both the car and the taxi had failed to stop and left the scene.

The man, who had been knocked unconscious, sustained multiple injuries. He was rushed to Caritas Medical Centre, where he died about half an hour later.
