Hong Kong’s Hollywood Road has been named the second coolest street in the world by global magazine Time Out.

High Street in Melbourne claimed the top spot in its 2024 rankings, with the magazine praising the street’s trendiness and “unique, something-for-everyone local businesses”.

Coming in second was Hollywood Road, one of the oldest and most vibrant streets in the SAR.

“Hollywood Road stood out because it represents exactly what we think makes a street cool: it has a long history but is still constantly changing and offering something new,” Time Out wrote.

“This 1km stretch from Central to Sheung Wan is like that wise old friend who’s seen it all but still knows how to rock it.”

The magazine described Hollywood Road as an art hub which is home to numerous antique shops, art galleries and Instagram-worthy murals, and said people will “never go hungry and thirsty in the area” with the countless dining options available.

Other streets on the list include East Eleventh in Austin, US, at number three and Buenos Aires’s Guatemala Street at number four. In Asia, some of the coolest streets include Kuala Lumpur’s Jalan Petaling at number six and Tokyo’s Chazawa-dori at number nine.
